PEF endorses Victor Pichardo for state Assembly in District 86

ALBANY, NY (08/16/2013)(readMedia)-- The New York State Public Employees Federation (PEF) today endorsed Democrat Victor Pichardo to represent the state's 86th Assembly District, which is in the Bronx. The election is to fill a mid-term vacancy created by the resignation of Assembly Member Nelson Castro earlier this year.

PEF President Susan Kent said, "I am pleased to announce the PEF Executive Board voted this morning to endorse Victor Pichardo in his bid for the Democratic nomination to run for the state Assembly. Mr. Pichardo has expressed a profound respect for public service, which is very meaningful to our PEF members who have devoted their careers to public service. Mr. Pichardo impressed us with his energy and commitment to working with labor to resolve many important issues and he brings the skills and experience he gained working for U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer and later for state Sen. Gustavo Rivera."

PEF is New York's second largest state-employee union. PEF represents approximately 55,000 professional, scientific and technical employees of New York State and other public and private employers.
