ALBANY, NY (10/02/2015)(readMedia)-- New York State Public Employees Federation (PEF) President Wayne Spence announced today that PEF is being represented by a new lead negotiator in contract talks with the state.
Attorney Mark Richard, who has led negotiations involving public-employee professionals, teachers, transit workers, health care workers and others, is the long-time counsel to the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) in Washington, D.C., which is an international affiliate of PEF.
Spence said, "We're very pleased to have the services of one of the nation's leading labor negotiators. Mr. Richard brings experience, stature and a level of professionalism that will serve us well."
PEF's lead negotiator up until now, Elizabeth Hough, has assumed a new position with United University Professions (UUP), but will be available to consult with the PEF team as needed.
PEF is the state's largest white-collar labor union, representing 54,000 members, mainly the professional, scientific and technical employees of New York state.
