ALBANY, NY (02/11/2008)(readMedia)-- Pre-K girls at The Albany Academies will be examining a real cow's heart – part of a Valentine's Day theme – in conjunction with a heart science lesson on Thursday, February 14; the girls will be dressed in surgical garb for the lesson, including head, feet, gloves and gowns.
The heart has been safety inspected, and the students will be learning about heart science as part of the lesson.
The project is being spearheaded by Academies Science Teacher Bonnie Smith, who teaches on the school's East Campus located at 140 Academy Road in Albany.
The Albany Academies is home to the two campuses of The Albany Academy (West Campus) and Albany Academy for Girls (East Campus), which share a nearly 200-year-old tradition of outstanding, single-gender independent school education. Both campuses bring with them deeply treasured values of community, tradition and purpose to the newly formed school known as The Albany Academies.
The Albany Academies is committed to developing the potential of the whole individual by building a community that fosters scholarship, leadership, character, service and creativity.
