DES MOINES, IA (07/20/2018) (readMedia)-- Des Moines, IA- The Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation and Cookies Food Products are pleased to present Ralph Hodson of Ackworth as an Iowan of the Day for the 2018 Iowa State Fair.

After graduating from Indianola high school and Central Missouri State, Ralph married and had four sons. He rasied his family on a farm in Ackworth, he instilled the values of responsibility, time management, and the rewards of hard work into each of his sons. He continues to lead by example, always willing to be a mentor to young people as they strive to succeed.

Ralph was the Be-Square 4-H leader for 17 years. He served two terms on the Warren County Extension Council and Warren County 4-H Committee. For nearly a decade he has been a livestock buyer for DeeZee Manufacturing. He is a trustee of the Warren County Cemetery Association. As shown, involvement in his community has never subsided.

Ralph's love of the great Iowa State Fair started at a young age. In fact, Ralph has not missed a Fair since 1947! He takes great pride in knowing every inch of the Fairgrounds- from the vendors to the judges- he can answer any question you throw at him. "After a day on the Fairgrounds look for him at Stockmen's visiting with old friends and making new ones," says nominator Jocelyn Richards.

Hodson's day of recognition will be on Thursday, August 16 at the 2018 Iowa State Fair. He will be recognized with a presentation on the Anne & Bill Riley stage at 1:15 p.m. Along with accommodations at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown, he will receive a gift bag, Grandstand tickets and use of the Iowan of the Day golf cart.

Founded in 1997, the Iowan of the Day program allows the Blue Ribbon Foundation to recognize Iowa's most outstanding individuals. The program continues to honor Iowans across the state who have made a difference in the lives of others, while upholding the characteristics associated with Iowa- dependability, integrity, hard work and sense of community.

The Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.
