Request for Coverage: Beaver Falls Community Crime Watch Day
BEAVER FALLS, PA (07/27/2012)(readMedia)-- Who: The Beaver Falls community.
When: On Saturday, July 28 from 6 – 10 p.m.
Where: Geneva College at 3200 College Avenue in Beaver Falls, Pa.
What: A non-profit, public-spirited, family-friendly event to promote community safety. Free for all. Activities with particular news and photography appeal include:
• Children's activities, including crafts supervised by the Center for Creative Arts Expression, face painting, balloon artist Tom Chidester, McGruff the crime dog and various "Penny Carnival" games. A "Minute to Win It!" tournament will be held for all ages.
• Military vehicles, fire trucks and rescue vehicles will be present. A STAT Medevac chopper will make a landing around 6:20 p.m.
• Demonstrations, including fire extinguisher instruction throughout the evening, a bomb robot (6:30 and 8 p.m.), a police dog (7 and 8 p.m.) and police taser gun (7:30 and 9 p.m.).
• Services provided include child identification kits and Neighborhood Watch information.
• Representatives from community service organizations such as Beaver Falls Forever (BFF), Beaver County Children and Youth Services, and the Ford Foundation will attend.
• Local and state police officers, local firemen, city council members, members of the District Attorney's Office, and military recruitment officers will all be present.
• Music will be presented throughout the day by DJ Tumas.
• A Zambelli fireworks display will begin around 9:45 p.m.
