Ron Bell Named Iowan of the Day

DES MOINES, IA (07/25/2017) (readMedia)-- The Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation and Cookies Food Products are pleased to present Ron Bell of Mondamin as an Iowan of the Day for the 2017 Iowa State Fair.

The town of Mondamin flourishes due to the contributions Ron has made in the past several years. He has played an integral role in bringing his community together, from spearheading the annual Mondamin Christmas Party and the Mondamin Heritage Days Celebration to being the Mayor for six years. As Mayor, Ron initiated projects to replace the water tower and to upgrade the sanitary sewer system.

All ages and aspects of the town benefit from Ron's volunteer service. When the West Harrison School was on the verge of closing, Ron stepped in and pushed to keep it open to benefit the students. As a member of the City Council, Ron applied for many grants that led to Mondamin receiving updates to the city park.

Just a few of the organizations Ron has spent his time volunteering for are the Harrison County Board of Public Health, Landfill Commission, Conference Board and Emergency Management Commission. Ron has also devoted much of his time to the Early Childhood Board, serving as a community representative and secretary, leading efforts to provide education, health and human services to children and their families. Ron is an active member of his church and the local food bank.

"He has improved the way of life for many in his community and continues to serve on a daily basis," says Randy Cloyd, friend and co-worker of Ron.

Ron's day of recognition will be on Sunday, August 13 at the 2017 Iowa State Fair. He will be recognized with a presentation on the Anne & Bill Riley stage at 2:30 P.M. Along with accommodations at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown, he will receive a gift bag, grandstand tickets and use of the Iowan of the Day golf cart.
