La Salle's Dr. Lynne Texter presents the awards for top graduate in the communication and English departments

PHILADELPHIA, PA (06/20/2011)(readMedia)-- Rose Motley of Hatfield was named the top graduate in both the Communication and English Departments at La Salle University. When presented with the award for the top student in the Communication Department, Dr. Lynne Texter, Chairperson of the Department said, "An Honors student with a 3.89 GPA, Rose is a model of personal, academic, and professional excellence. She regularly exceeds any expectations and requirements. Her work-individually and in groups; in her courses, her internships, conference presentations, and the organizations with whom she works-is the exemplar we could use for what others should strive towards."

"Her writing and speaking skills are superior, and she easily balances theory and practice. She absorbs and synthesizes information and experiences, and then she applies what she's learned. On a number of occasions, Rose's knowledge and polished professional demeanor have led people to believe she was a faculty member or an advanced graduate student, rather than an undergraduate.

In addition to double-majoring in communication and English, Rose sought out as many different educational experiences as she could while a student-multiple internships (including the Franklin Institute) student-faculty research projects, conference presentations, independent studies, work as a resident assistant, leadership on the Communication Student Board, and the Communication Honor Society," said Texter.
