Sachman, Austin Named SUNYAC Athletes of the Week
Brockport Athletes Honored by Conference
BROCKPORT, NY (11/15/2011)(readMedia)-- Sophomore forward Steve Sachman (Medford, NY) of the Men's Ice Hockey team and Senior diver Chris Austin (Middlesex, NY/Naples) of the Men's Swimming and Diving team have been named State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Athletes of the Week for their respective sports.
Sachman led the Golden Eagles to their first victory of the season, a 6-1 upset of Geneseo. At the time, Geneseo was ranked no. 14 in the country by USCHO.com. Sachman scored two goals in the third period. The goals were Sachman's second and third of the season.
His first goal came on a powerplay to put the Golden Eagles up 5-1. His next goal came just 1:33 later on a shorthanded goal.
Austin and the Golden Eagles competed against Brockport this weekend. Austin, competing on both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving boards, was a double winner for Brockport.
Austin scored a 242.70 on the 1-meter and a 242.25 on the 3-meter, both top scores in the SUNYAC this past weekend. Austin collected 18 points to help the Golden Eagles to a 166-127 victory over Potsdam.
