Savannah Green Events Guide & Directory

SAVANNAH, GA (05/26/2011)(readMedia)--

The Savannah Green Events Guide & Directory is now accepting submissions for green vendors for the 2012 edition. The guide provides how-to tips and advice on making events of any size more sustainable and also includes a directory of local and regional vendors. The content is aimed at helping to make the process of 'going green' easier for event planners, organizations and businesses that host events.

Contributors Tommy Linstroth, Summer Teal Simpson, and Cari Clark Phelps had long been approached by businesses and organizations looking to lessen their impact on natural resources and looking for smart ways of planning green events. Streamlining that process by including 70 vendors in over 20 categories, they issued the inaugural Guide in 2011.

"It's really very simple and straightforward," Linstroth says of planning a greener event. "And there is more than ample support from vendors and venues around the city to pull it off."

Nearly 2000 guides have been distributed since the release of the 2011 Guide in November 2010, including events like monthly GreenDrinks Savannah and cSpot events, the Georgia Organics Conference, Telluride Mountainfilm on Tour, For the Record recycled art event, and Earth Day in Forsyth Park. Additional copies were distributed broadly by the United Way of the Coastal Empire to their numerous partner organizations, by the Savannah Wedding Professionals, and through the advertisers.

"Our distribution was ambitious," says Simpson. "We wanted to put this valuable information in the hands of as many event planners as we could. For 2012, we hope to continue to disseminate the Guide & Directory through traditional channels, but we aim to grow our online and electronic presence as well." In addition to expanded web presence, other developments for the 2012 Guide include enhanced social media exposure for vendors listed in the directory.

"The look and feel of the 2012 Guide will be familiar, but we're enhancing and enriching the content to help fulfill Savannah's interest in more green practices," says Clark Phelps.
