Local non-profit Coastal Victims Assistance Services (CVAS) presents the Summer Fun Day on June 11, 2011 to honor and support local police, firefighters, EMTs and the victims they help. The event takes place in Daffin Park from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and is a free, fun event for all ages.

Summer Fun Day features fire trucks, police cars and ambulances to explore, bounce houses to play in, and an opportunity to meet the first responders who are there for Chatham County residents when disaster strikes. There is also a fundraiser element of the day, where unclaimed clothing donated by local dry cleaners will be sold to support local first responders and assist local victims after a disaster.

"On June 11th, we will show our appreciation for first responders in Chatham County, while providing an opportunity for the citizens of our area to meet these local heroes and see some of the equipment that they use to help us in our darkest moments," said CVAS Vice President Tim Blanco. "Savannah area dry cleaners, especially David's, has been kind enough to offer unclaimed items for sale to help fund the operations of the Coastal Victims Assistance Services. We will be selling clean, pressed, and hung clothing to support the mission of CVAS. Everything will be happening in a fun-filled, family environment with plenty of games for kids and opportunities to explore emergency vehicles. Please come to Daffin Park and get a great deal on some amazing clothing and help our local heroes."
