Schaffert Named Athlete of the Week
BROCKPORT, NY (12/10/2013)(readMedia)-- Sophomore women's swimmer Taylor Schaffert has been chosen as The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Dec. 8.
Schaffert had an excellent weekend at the Fredonia Invitational. The sophomore helped the Golden Eagles finish in fourth place overall and broke a few records along the way.
On the first day of competition, Schaffert set a school record in the 50-yard freestyle with a first place time of 24.55.
On day two, Schaffert continued to set records. She broke the school record in the 200-yard backstroke with a third place time of 2:11.05. She was also part of the 200-yard freestyle relay that broke a school record, finishing in first place in 1:39.92.
Schafferet closed out the invitational with two relay wins and a second place finish in the 100-yard backstroke. Her relay teams in the 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay took home winning times of 1:50.71 and 3:41.57, respectively.
The Golden Eagles return to competition for a home dual meet against Oneonta on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 1 pm.
