Schenectady County Public Library Event
Conversations on Giving, Serving and Leading
SCHENECTADY, NY (03/20/2014)(readMedia)-- Schenectady County Public Library, 99 Clinton St., will offer a series of reflective discussions entitled Conversations on Giving, Serving and Leading on Wednesdays, April 2-30 from 6:30-8 p.m. Participants must attend at least three sessions. Call 388-4511 to register.
Dr. Deidre Hill Butler, associate professor of sociology and director of the Africana Studies Program at Union College, will facilitate the discussions, which are made possible by a grant from the New York Council for the Humanities.
Some of the questions to be raised are: Why and how do we choose to serve others? What is the relationship between those who serve and those who are served? If we serve, what sustains and renews us? Discussions will be on short readings drawn from world literature, philosophy, and religion. Readings will be provided.
