WHITTIER, CA (03/02/2010)(readMedia)-- Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger announced that he has appointed Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU) regent Caleb Zia to the Naturopathic Medicine Committee. Dr. Zia has been a regent at the university since 2009.
Dr. Zia has served as president of China International University since 2003 and as provost for SIAS International University of Business and Management in Henan, China since 2005, a position he previously held from 2001 to 2003. Dr. Zia was assistant dean for the Asian program at Fort Hays State University from 2001 to 2003. Prior to that, he served as the director of recruitment and special project coordinator for the University of Southern California from 2000 to 2001 and director for the Center of International Trade Development at Coastline Community College from 1994 to 1999.
Prior to his involvement in educational leadership, Dr. Zia was vice president of administration for the Right Solution in 1993 and vice president of marketing for Wilshire Center Bank in 1992. He was the general manager and managing partner for Hotel Pueblo from 1989 to 1992, chief executive officer for Chinese Arts and Crafts from 1987 to 1989 and president of Maui Airline from 1983 to 1987. Zia serves on the board of directors for the Golden Coast Bank of Long Beach and the Community Care Health Centers.

Dr. Zia earned his Bachelor and Master degrees in Electrical Engineering, and his Doctor degree in Leadership in Higher Education, all from the University of Southern California.
Southern California University of Health Sciences incorporates the College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic, the School of Professional Studies, and the University Health Centers.
