Spelman College Alumna Brittanye Mackey Continues Fulbright Fellow Legacy in Vietnam

ATLANTA, GA (11/29/2011)(readMedia)-- Spelman College alumna, Brittanye Mackey, who graduated magna cum laude in 2011, with a bachelor of arts in both French and international studies was selected to travel to Vietnam as a Fulbright Fellow. Committed to global citizenship, Mackey began studying abroad as a Spelman student in 2009. Mackey studied French language and European diplomacy in Paris, spent her junior year studying in Rennes, France and Dakar, Senegal by way of Counsel International Educational Exchange (CIEE), and was selected to represent Spelman at the World Model United Nations conferences in The Hague, Netherlands (2009) and Singapore (2011).

As a native of Haverhill, Mass. Mackey aspires to be a teacher that enlightens Vietnamese students about diverse cultures within the United States while she learns about the cultures found within Vietnam. Mackey also hopes to conduct informal research on the Vietnamese perception of Black Americans and Amerasians. In 2011, Spelman tied for seventh as a top-producing bachelor's degree institution for Fulbright students with five winners, all of whom are English language teaching assistants in Vietnam, Macau, Korea, Venezuela and Spain. In addition, Spelman has been positioned among leading colleges and universities for the international education exchange program for five consecutive years.
