NEW YORK, NY (03/10/2011)(readMedia)-- If the urgent need for ethics reform in the State legislature and for publicly-financed, voter-owned elections wasn't obvious enough, today's corruption charges brought against Senator Kruger, Assemblyman Boyland, a prominent lobbyist and two hospital executives certainly makes it so now.
We had hoped that we had closed the rolls of the rogues gallery, but obviously we need more pages for that scrapbook.
Sadly, this is just another in a tawdry and apparently endless procession of corruption cases that underscore just how immediate the need is to restore a sense of good government to this once leading state.
The trust of all New Yorkers has been betrayed, the entire body politic has been tainted and the only acceptable outcome is for real and meaningful reform legislation to be passed in this legislative session.
