MONDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2014, WESTBURY (02/10/2014)(readMedia)-- Nine longtime workers were fired from Mrs. Green's Natural Market in Mt. Kisco, N.Y. after meeting with elected officials on organizing a union and improving their workplace.
When customers heard about the firings, they were outraged and are now demanding the fired workers be reinstated.
Community members, local unions and community groups are joining the picket line to demonstrate to the company they will not stand for this kind of treatment of employees. Federal charges have been filed against Mrs. Green's Natural Market.
In November 2013, the National Labor Relations Board settled unfair labor practice charges with Mrs. Green's, and ordred the company to post a notice throughout their store, notifying employees of their basic rights at work.
