Students collaborate to make Literary Pumpkins

TROY, NY (10/24/2012)(readMedia)-- With the changing seasons, students at the Susan Odell Taylor School are experiencing new themes, traveling to new places, and learning to work together. The annual tradition of literary pumpkins has begun, and students in grades Kindergarten through 6th grade are working together in cooperative groups to create a literary character using a pumpkin, art supplies, and lots of creativity. Students are paired up (older students with younger students) and select a favorite book. They then design and create a character from the book using a pumpkin and other materials. Students will present their work on Friday October 26th from 10:30-11:20. These pumpkins will be on display through the middle of November in the School's front hallway. The Preschool and Prekindergarten classes will also create class pumpkins to put on display.
