Summer camp opportunities abound at Geneva College
Geneva offers a variety of camps focused on sports, academics and the arts.
BEAVER FALLS, PA (05/25/2011)(readMedia)-- Geneva College has many camp offerings this summer for youngsters and teens interested in a variety of activities. Camp themes range from sports to the arts to academic skills. Geneva conducts the camps as a way to provide quality recreational and cultural programs to young people in the area.
The Geneva College Men's and Women's basketball program will be hosting a number of Above the Hoop Basketball Camps for boys and girls grades K-12 throughout the summer. These camps are designed to teach basic individual and team basketball skill, while providing students with the opportunity to participate in games and drills.
Musical Theatre Camp is open for students in junior and senior high school and will be held weekday evenings and on one Saturday, June 13-25. Classes offered include acting, elocution, vocal techniques, as well as rehearsals for performances of famous musical theatre acts that will take place on June 24 and 25 in the Bagpiper Theatre. The camp is hosted by the Geneva College Henry Mancini Musical Theatre Awards.
Let's Play Camp is being offered to boys and girls ages 6-12 and meets June 13-17 and/or June 20-24, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Campers will have formal instruction for sports like volleyball, soccer and basketball, as well as the opportunity to be instructed in less formal events like kickball, relay races and hiking. This camp is designed for students of all ability levels.
Summer Reading Camp is available to boys and girls ages 6-10 on weekdays from June 27-July 22 (except July 4). Children ages 6-7 will meet from 9-10:15 a.m. and children ages 8-10 will meet from 10:30-11:45 a.m. Summer Reading Camp is sponsored by Geneva's Masters in Reading Program and will provide one-on-one tutoring by certified teachers for children struggling with reading.
The Geneva Soccer Academy is open to boys and girls ages 5-14 and will meet July 18-20 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Friday, July 22 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Campers will be divided by age and ability, and instructed on fundamental playing skills, sportsmanship and the Geneva style of quick play. Instruction will be given by Geneva College men's and women's coaches, as well as former collegiate players and experienced coaches from the area.
