Summer camps at Geneva College
BEAVER FALLS, PA (04/11/2012)(readMedia)-- Geneva College recognizes the importance of offering quality academic, athletic and arts programs for youngsters and teens in the surrounding communities. For this reason, the college will host a number of camps focused on a variety of activities this summer.
Above the Hoop Basketball Camps are organized by the Geneva College Men's and Women's basketball program for boys and girls in grades 4-11. The camps are built to teach basic individual and team basketball skills, while also providing an opportunity to participate in games and drills.
Musical Theatre Camp is open to students in junior and senior high and will hold its sessions in the evenings and on Saturday from June 11-22. The camps offer classes in acting, elocution, vocal technique, stage movement, stage combat, make-up techniques, as well as rehearsals. The camp is hosted by the Geneva College Henry Mancini Musical Theatre Awards.
The Geneva College Girl's Softball Camp is open to students ages 8 to 15 years old and will meet June 19-22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants will receive instruction from Geneva College coaches and staff to help with their hitting mechanics, infield mechanics, outfield mechanics, throwing mechanics, catching mechanics and base running.
Summer Reading Camp is available to boys and girls ages 6-10 on weekdays from June 25-July 20 (except July 4). Children ages 6-7 will meet from 9-10:15 a.m. and children ages 8-10 will meet from 10:30-11:45 a.m. Summer Reading Camp is sponsored by Geneva's Master's in Reading Program and will provide one-on-one tutoring by certified teachers for children struggling with reading.
The Geneva Soccer Camp is open to boys and girls ages 6-16 and will meet June 25-28 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Friday, June 29 from 9 to 11:00 a.m. Campers will be divided by age and ability, and instructed on fundamental playing skills, sportsmanship and the Geneva style of quick play. Instruction will be given by Geneva College men's and women's coaches, as well as former collegiate players and experienced coaches from the area.
