NASHVILLE TN (11/08/2012)(readMedia)-- If the stairs don't take your breath away, the view from the observation floor of the William R. Snodgrass Tennessee Tower will. The American Lung Association is holding their FIRST Fight For Air Climb in Nashville, and they're looking for participants to take the challenge to not only to climb 638 steps, but help in the fight again lung disease.

On Saturday, March 9, 2013, climbers, walkers, runners, first responders and supporters of the American Lung Association will climb the William R. Snodgrass Tennessee Tower in downtown Nashville. Participants will challenge themselves to climb 27 flights of stairs which is 638 steps while raising money to help support the American Lung Association's mission: to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease. This is accomplished through research, education and advocacy across the state of Tennessee.

Registration for the Fight for Air Climb is $25 until December 31st, 2012, after which it will be $35 through the day of the event. In addition, participants must raise a minimum of $100 in pledges and can quality for a variety of incentive prizes based on the amount of money they raise.

Lung diseases such as asthma and COPD cannot yet be cured, but they can be managed. Making sure people know what's needed to take control of these lung diseases is one of the American Lung Association's top priorities. 35 million Americans are living with chronic lung diseases such as asthma, lung cancer and COPD. Lung cancer is America's #1 cancer killer.
