Taylor School Students help Flood Victims

Hurricane Irene donations to go to Regional Food Bank

TROY, NY (09/29/2011)(readMedia)-- The students in the 3-4 grade class at the Susan Odell Taylor School are engaged in a service learning project to help the victims of Hurricane Irene. Many families are still suffering the consequesnces of the storm which happened several weeks ago.

The students are collecting non-perishable food items and other necessities. Collection bins will be in the school's main entrance hall at 116 Pinewoods Avenue, Troy beginning Monday, October 3rd through Friday, October 14, 2011.

All donations will be delivered to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York.

Items most needed are; Ready-to-eat meals, canned meat, canned fruit, canned vegetables, canned fish, canned soup, canned tofu, pasta, rice, cereal, beans, peanut butter. Additional items needed are; cleaning supplies, hygiene products, baby products, utensils, paper products, canned milk, honey, crackers, vitamins and other packaged goods.
