The Founder of the Iraqi Christian Relief Council will be at Pathway Church

As part of the Geneva Visiting Artist and Lecture Series, Juliana Taimoorazy is speaking on April 4.

BEAVER FALLS, PA (03/14/2013)(readMedia)-- Juliana Taimoorazy, Founder and President of the Iraqi Christian Relief Council, will be speaking at Pathway Church, formerly Chippewa Evangelical Free Church, on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 7 p.m.

Religious persecution caused Taimoorazy to flee Iran in 1989. She spent a week in a monastery in Zurich, before being smuggled into Germany, where she sought religious asylum through the U.S. embassy. After a year-long wait, Taimoorazy was granted an entry visa to America.

Taimoorazy, who attended Northeastern Illinois University, began mentoring young Christian women arriving in Chicago from refugee camps in Turkey and Syria. This experience led her to found the Iraqi Christian Relief Council. This is a nonprofit organization that cooperates with other U.S. entities to educate Americans about the religious and ethnic cleansing occurring to Christians in Iraq. The group's objective is to raise awareness, obtain financial assistance and request prayers for these Iraqi Christians.

The organization's current campaign is "Aid for Ninevites", which seeks to support families who are without food and shelter due to terror attacks. They are also working on a project to empower widows in Iraq who have lost their husbands to terrorism and are unable to properly support their families.

Working as a reporter since joining Chicago news media company Assyrians Around the World (AAW) in 1994, Taimoorazy has covered various events for both television and radio. She currently hosts the "Assyrian Open Forum Show," which airs worldwide on www.ninevehradio.com.

Taimoorazy is coming to Pathway Church as part of the Geneva College Visiting Artist and Lecture Series (GVALS). Her presentation is free and open to the public.
