Theology professor and author Dr. Vincent Bacote to speak at Geneva College

The Director of Wheaton College's Center for Applied Christian Ethics will be on campus on Feb 5.

BEAVER FALLS, PA (01/31/2014)(readMedia)-- Dr. Vincent Bacote, Associate Professor of Theology at Wheaton College and the Director of its Center for Applied Christian Ethics (CACE), will make two presentations on Wednesday, February 5, at Geneva College.

The first message, given during Geneva's 10:10 a.m. chapel hour, will be "The Word of (Public and Private) Life." Chapel, which takes place in Metheny Fieldhouse, is a weekly time for the Geneva community to gather and praise the Lord.

Dr. Bacote's second appearance will be "Seeking the Best from an Imperfect Tradition: Taking Kuyper's Legacy Forward." Abraham Kuyper, a Dutch politician, journalist, statesman and theologian, made significant contributions to the formulation of the principle of common grace in the context of a Reformed worldview. This lecture will be at 7:30 p.m. in John White Chapel of Old Main.

"It is important to recognize that our faith is not reserved for some kind of Christian ghetto," Dr. Bacote is quoted to say on Wheaton's faculty page, which further lists over 30 of Dr. Bacote's publications. "It ought to impact every facet of our lives and society. I hope to create this kind of passion in students as they study theology, a truly exciting subject."

CACE, according to its website, "supports the mission of Wheaton College by promoting and encouraging the formation of moral character and the application of biblical ethics to contemporary moral decisions," a goal it strives towards through a portfolio of activities, including ethical training, public forums, and projects.

Both presentations are free and open to the public.
