Three Golden Eagles Named to Second-Team All-SUNYAC
BROCKPORT, NY (05/08/2012)(readMedia)-- The College at Brockport Women's Lacrosse team placed four players on the Second-Team All-SUNYAC team. Dayna Piraino (Syracuse, NY/Henninger), Karen Bianchi (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee), and Colleen Hathaway (Watertown, NY/South Jefferson) were all selected to the to the all-conference team.
Piraino eclipsed the 200 point mark in a 21-2 win over Potsdam and finished her career with 235 points, ranking second all-time in Brockport school history. The senior led Brockport with 67 total points with 31 goals and 36 assists. Piraino ranked ninth in the SUNYAC in points per game.
Binachi was second on the team with 34 goals this year. Bianchi finished with 38 points on the season. The junior also had a solid defensive season, leading the team with 29 ground balls, 27 draw controls and 21 caused turnovers.
Hathaway was just one of two freshman to be named to either the first or second team on the year, and is the first Golden Eagle rookie to make an all-conference team since Piraino was named second-team in 2009 as a freshman. Hathaway was recently named to the SUNYAC All-Tournament team as well after her defensive performance against Cortland in the first round. The freshman started all but two games this season and collected 26 ground balls, 14 draw controls, and caused 17 turnovers on the year.
The Golden Eagles fell to Cortland in the first round of the SUNYAC Tournament 11-9 after entering as the No. 4 seed. Brockport finished the season with an overall record of 10-5, the team's third straight year with double digit wins.
