Tyrone Nichols Named Brockport Male Athlete of the Week
BROCKPORT, NY (10/08/2012)(readMedia)-- Sophomore Tryone Nichols (Troy, NY/Lansingburgh) of the football team has been named The College at Brockport Male Athlete of the Week after leading the Golden Eagles to a 35-14 victory over William Paterson on Saturday afternoon. The running back had a season-high in rushing yards and touchdowns as Brockport improved to 4-2 overall.
Against the Pioneers, Nichols rushed 24 times for 165 yards on the ground, scoring two touchdowns along the way. The 165 yards are the third-best performance in Nichols' young career.
On Brockport's first drive of the game, Nichols carried the ball six times in an eight-play drive as the sophomore capped off the drive with a one-yard touchdown run to give the Golden Eagles an early 7-0 lead. Nichols scored another one-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to finish off Brockport's scoring on the day. The Golden Eagles have now won seven straight games when Nichols scores a rushing touchdown.
Brockport returns to action next Saturday, Oct. 13 as the Golden Eagles travel to Cortland for a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) matchup. Game-time is set for 1:00 pm.
