SCHAGHTICOKE, NY (09/08/2011)(readMedia)-- Liberty Ridge Farm, an agricultural tourism destination and working farm located in Schaghticoke, NY is now booking educational field trips for the 2011 fall season. Celebrating the 12th season of student learning adventures, the Liberty Ridge Farm field trip provides Pre-K to 5th Grade class groups an educational and fun-filled day on the farm.

"Our 2011 corn maze theme, the Hubble Space Telescope Adventure Corn Maze, focuses on space travel and teamwork. Our farm promotes family values of working together, communication, and persistence," said Cynthia Gifford, owner of Liberty Ridge Farm, "we know these are admirable traits all students can learn from."

A field trip to Liberty Ridge Farm meets NYS higher learning standards and is a educational lesson plan in itself. Farm activities teach students about the world they live in, with an active bee hive, animal barns and lots of hands on learning. At the heart of Liberty Ridge Farm is the Hubble Space Telescope Adventure Corn Maze offering an interactive learning experience that allows students to navigate their way through the twists and turns of outer space. A Maze passport game enhances the experience by teaching valuable team building and problem solving skills with hints and clues that helps students navigate as a team.

A trip to the Farm also includes:

  • The enhanced Educational Center that features hands on learning about farm history, animals, and why trees are so important for our planet.
  • The NEW Jumping Pillow is our newest addition to the farm, each student can jump towards the stars on this anti-gravity inspired activity.
  • The Pumpkin Cannon show provides a physics lesson in potential and kinetic energy while watching a pumpkin sail a quarter of a mile.
  • The Bee Barn, an observational bee hive, providing a lesson in the pollination process and the importance of bees to our food source.
  • A pre-school favorite – Lil' Farmersville, designed to be developmentally appropriate for children 6 and under.
  • The Hubble Space Telescope Adventure Corn maze – An interactive learning experience that allows students to navigate their way through the twists and turns of outer space as they answer questions on space exploration.
  • Brad's Barnyard – Hosts over 20 activities for body and mind that implement hand/eye coordination and exercise. New for 2011 the Jumping Pillow!

The Liberty Ridge Farm educational field trip provides students and chaperones a three hour self guided learning experience designed to align with New York State curriculum guidelines, and is offered to school field trips as well as daycare and nursery schools. Located through-out the farm, there are new information stations that offer itinerary suggestions, maps of activities and show schedules.
