WIFS National Accepts Applications for

"Finish Strong" Summer/Fall 2021 Mentorship Program

Women in Insurance and Financial Services (WIFS) is accepting applications for mentors and mentees for its summer/fall mentorship program, Finish Strong.

Finish Strong is part of WIFS' yearlong mentorship program, which also includes the winter/spring Power Start program. Participation in the Power Start program is not a requirement for acceptance into the Finish Strong program.

The application deadline for Finish Strong is April 30, and mentors/mentees will be notified of their pairings by June 16.

The benefits of mentorship are widely known, with participants reporting enhanced knowledge acquisition, better preparation for promotions and other career advancment, and increased productivity.

Benefits are not exclusive to just mentees. While mentees report unparalleled career develoment opportunities and increased access to industry "veterans" and their knowledge and experience, mentors also report improvements in leadership and coaching skills, and the satisfaction of "paying it forward" as we work to advance women in finance.

Past WIFS National President Karen Roberts had this to say about her mentoring experience:

"My mentoring experience has gone above and beyond what I could have expected. My mentee has been so appreciative of the work we've done together. In the end she has helped me as much as I have helped her. What an amazing woman I was partnered with! A huge thank you to WIFS for bringing the mentoring program to light. This has been and will continue to be a great relationship on both sides. Mentoring Rocks!"

Mentees credit the program with giving them the tools necessary to remain in the industry and flourish. Here are comments from a recent mentee:

"After almost quitting this career because people would cancel on me, not pick up their phone... I started opening policies. My commission has been raised from 30-45 percent! My next goal is a commission from 45 to 62 percent while studying for the series exams. I can't thank my mentor enough for the encouragement of not quitting and for maintaining the high energy to keep me going."

The Mentorship Program is open to WIFS members in good standing. More information and access to applications is available on the WIFS National website. Anyone interested in becoming a mentor/mentee but who is not currently a WIFS member may apply for membership here.
