Children's Dream Playground in Jim Barnett Park

WINCHESTER, VA (10/23/2013)(readMedia)-- The Winchester Parks and Recreation Department announces the temporary closing of Children's Dream Playground in Jim Barnett Park. The playground is slated for a new $49,000 resilient surface that will meet Consumer Product Safety Commission guidelines as well Americans with Disabilites Act requirements.

Renovations will begin on October 24th with the demolition of the 1/2 inch existing top course surfacing in addition to 1/2 inch of underlayment buffering. The demolition will be complete on October 25th with installation of poured in place surface to begin on October 28th. The playground will reopen on November 1, 2013 once the new surface has had appropriate time to cure. In addition to the new resilient surface, a new CPSC compliant slide will also be installed.
