Amanda Rota Earns ECAC Honor
BROCKPORT, NY (01/24/2013)(readMedia)-- Amanda Rota (Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook) of The College at Brockport Gymnastics team has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Rookie of the Week. The Golden Eagles improved to 2-0 on the year with a 185.375- 177.775 victory over Springfield on Saturday.
Rota dominated the balance beam event as the freshman scored a meet-best 9.625 to earn rookie of the week honors. Rota's score helped give Brockport a total of 46.550 in the event. The freshman improved her score on the beam by .600 from last week's meet against Ithaca.
Brockport takes to the road this weekend as the Golden Eagles travel to West Chester (Pa.) for a dual meet at 1:00 pm.
