Bardenett and Gianni Named to the All-Tournament team

Brockport falls to Cortland in SUNYAC Championship

BROCKPORT, NY (05/07/2012)(readMedia)-- Junior James Bardenett (Syracuse, NY/Henninger) and sophomore Mike Gianni (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) of The College at Brockport Baseball team have been named to the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) All-Tournament team.

Bardenett started game on the mound for the Golden Eagles, going eight and one-third innings. While he did not receive a decision, Brockport managed to defeat Oneonta on a walk-off hit to advance in the tournament. Bardenett allowed three earned runs and struck out four batters on the day.

Gianni played in just two full games for Brockport, but led the team with five RBI in the tournament. Gianni provided a crucial three-run double to help eliminate Oneonta from the tournament and provided another two-run single against Cortland in the championship round.

The Golden Eagles eventually fell to Cortland in the second round but came back to defeat Oneonta once again in the double-elimination tournament. In the championship round, Brockport fell to Cortland  in a hard-fought 4-3 battle. Brockport held a 3-0 lead in the eighth before surrendering four runs. Brockport was competing in its fifth consecutive SUNYAC Championship game.
