Conservative Party Exec Speaks out on 23rd CD Race and other topics in Empire Page Interview

ALBANY, NY (08/27/2009)(readMedia)-- In an interview published today by the Empire Page, Shaun Marie, executive vice chairman of the Conservative Party of NYS, explains why the party is running a candidate in New York's 23rd Congressional District. "The intention of the Conservative Party is to win this election," she states.

How does Shaun Marie explain the decline in the number of voters registered in the Conservative Party? "Many voters stay in a "major" party to influence the outcome in a primary," she points out. She also notes that conservatives may be moving to states with lower tax burdens.

What most about the conservative philosophy most appeals to younger voters? "Taxes, Taxes and Taxes! Our young people will be burdened with a debt of approximately $38,000 (prior to health care reform) before they even begin working," Shaun Marie said.

Is the Conservative Party in favor of public financing of elections? "One of the ill-conceived ideas is public financing of campaigns," she states.

The entire interview with Shaun Marie is available in the Improving New York section of The Empire Page.
