Cory Banwaree Named SUNYAC Goalie of the Week
BROCKPORT, NY (05/01/2013)(readMedia)-- For the second time this year Cory Banwaree (Port Jefferson Station, NY/Comsewogue) of The College at Brockport Men's Lacrosse team has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Goalie of the Week. Banwaree boosted the Golden Eagles into the SUNYAC Tournament with a pair of wins last week.
The senior netminder stopped nine shots against Geneseo on Tuesday afternoon as the Golden Eagles rallied for a 6-5 overtime victory against the Blue Knights. Banwaree held an opponent to five goals for the third time this year.
Banwaree, also named SUNYAC Goalie of the Week on March 18, helped Brockport clinch the No. 3 seed in the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament with an 11-9 victory over Oneonta on Senior Day Saturday afternoon. The senior stopped 13 shots, his second-highest total this year.
The Golden Eagles will travel to Plattsburgh on Wednesday afternoon to take on the Cardinals in the first round of the SUNYAC Tournament. Faceoff is set for 4:00 pm.
