TROY, NY (03/27/2012)(readMedia)-- For the 9th year in a row, the pre-kindergarten class at the Susan Odell Taylor School delivered a bit of Spring to the school. Each year, the students sell daffodils as a service learning project which benefits the American Cancer Society. Daffodil Days is one of the American Cancer Society's oldest and most beloved fundraising programs. As the first flower of spring, the daffodil represents hope and renewal. To the American Cancer Society, the daffodil symbolizes the hope we all share for a future where cancer no longer threatens those we love.
The students collect and count the money for the flowers. They then determine how many flowers they need to order and how many flowers go to each customer. A majority of the customers are staff of the school or parents of the students. This year, the class raised over $700. for the charity.
As is also tradition, the students don their special (hand made) flower hats and march around the school delivering the flowers in a specially decorated cart (on delivery day).
