BROCKPORT, NY (02/28/2012)(readMedia)-- Junior Elizabeth Levy (Glen Allen, Virginia/Hermitage) has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week after the women's gymnastics team posted their best score of the season as the Golden Eagles defeated No. 1 nationally ranked Cortland.
Levy scored a 38.050 in the all around ranks to have the highest score of the day as Brockport defeated the Red Dragons 189.525 to 188.725. Levy's highest score came on the floor exercise with a 9.650 to finish fourth in the event, but her best overall finish came on the uneven bars to finish second with a 9.550. Levy also scored a 9.450 to finish seventh on the vault and a 9.400 to finish seventh on the balance beam.
The Golden Eagles score was the second best in school history behind the 2010 team's score of 190.050, also set against Cortland. Levy and the Golden Eagles final regular season meet takes place on Sunday, March 4 as Brockport hosts Wilson College and Rhode Island College for the Brockport Invitational. The Golden Eagles then take to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships before returning home to host the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships on March 23 and March 24.
