Ellen Story Named Brockport Female Scholar Athlete of the Year

BROCKPORT, NY (05/14/2013)(readMedia)-- Senior Ellen Story (Catskill, NY/Catskill) of the women's basketball team has been named The College at Brockport Female Scholar Athlete of the Year. Story was also honored with this year's George M. Rich Outstanding Senior Athlete Award.

Story, a four-year member of the women's basketball team and three-year captain is a psychology and health science major with a minor in biology. The senior posted a 3.74 cumulative grade point average this year.

Story was a member of the dean's list all four years while serving as president as President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Story distinguished herself with exceptional volunteer work, including participating in the Wheelchair Basketball Game, Dancing with the Athletes and Walk to School Day while serving as a counselor at Camp Fowler and Retreat Center.

On the court, Story averaged 7.1 points per game and pulled in 3.8 rebounds per contest for the Golden Eagles. The senior was named to the Wendy's Classic All-Tournament team.

The Athlete and Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards were determined after compiling votes from each of Brockport's varsity coaches, as well as the Athletic Communications staff and select athletic administrators.
