Empire Page Announces New Leadership, Vision for New York Political Information Website
Pollak Takes Reins of “The Front Page for New York’s Political Elite”
ALBANY, NY (02/28/2008)(readMedia)-- The Empire Page’s new controlling shareholder, managing partner, and publisher is Peter G. Pollak, the editor of The Empire Page since February 2000. The Empire Page, the leading digest of breaking news and information for New York’s political leaders for almost a decade, was previously majority-owned by readMedia.
The transaction is the successor to an 8-year operating agreement between The Empire Page and readMedia, which began when readMedia’s predecessor, Empire Information Services, joined Schwartz Heslin Group and Wynantskill Capital to take over the website in February 2000.
Pollak, the founder of Empire Information Services and current chairman of readMedia, is investing in a re-design the Empire Page, including new features and sponsorship opportunities. “The Empire Page is a critical tool for political professionals in New York State, and as such deserves the focused attention that I can provide,” stated Pollak, “We’ll be giving readers the tools to make sense of the news as well as ways to reach out to the Empire Page’s audience of the ‘political elite.’”
The initial redesign will launch by the end of the first quarter, and will include tools to analyze the 2008 elections in New York. Additional features will be released throughout the year.
The Empire Page was founded in 1999 by Christopher Chichester, a former George Pataki speechwriter, who continues to comment on NYS and national politics.
“Peter has the vision and the passion to make the Empire Page an even more useful tool for those who drive the agenda in New York politics,” said Colin Mathews, President and CEO of readMedia. “That vision deserves its own platform, rather than competing for attention with readMedia’s core business.”
