BROCKPORT, NY (05/21/2012)(readMedia)-- Erin Asquith (Arcade, NY/Pioneer) has been chosen as The College at Brockport Female Scholar Athlete of the Year after posting a 3.99 GPA. The senior goalie on the women's soccer team is a Physical Education and Health major.
Asquith was named the 2012 Outstanding Major of the Year by the National Association for Sports and Physical Education (NASPE). On April 13, Asquith was named the Outstanding Undergraduate Student of the School of Health and Human Performance at The College of Brockport. She was also named to the 2011 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) College Division Women's Scholar All-East Region Third-Team and to the Capital One Division III District III All-Academic Team. Asquith was placed on the SUNYAC All-Academic team and the SUNYAC Commissioner's List.
The senior is president of the Phi Epsilon Kappa Honor Society and was captain of the women's soccer team as well.
On the field, Asquith was named Third-Team All-SUNYAC after starting all 19 games this season and logging 1709:34 of action in net. Asquith posted a 1.05 goals against average and an .813 save percentage to go along with six shutouts.
The Athlete and Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards were determined after compiling votes from each of Brockport's varsity coaches, as well as the Athletic Communications staff and select athletic administrators.
