Gwynedd-Mercy College Appoints Sister Mary Ann Dillon of Cresson, Pa., to Board of Trustees

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA (08/26/2010)(readMedia)-- Gwynedd-Mercy College appointed Sister Mary Ann Dillon, RSM, PhD, of Cresson, Pa., to its Board of Trustees. Dillon recently retired as president of Mount Aloysius College, a four-year liberal arts Catholic college sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy.

Previously, Dillon was the dean of general education at Saint Francis University located in Loretto, Pa. She was a provincial administrator (regional community president) for the Sisters of Mercy of Dallas, Pa., as well as a general administrative team member for the Sisters of Mercy of the Union in Potomac, Md.

Dillon's leadership roles also include her position as founding member of the Conference for Mercy Higher Education, and chair of the Board of Directors for the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania (AICUP), among others.

Dillon received a bachelor's degree in English from Misericordia College, a Master of Arts in Theology from the University of St. Michael's College, and a doctorate in systematic theology from Duquesne University.

Dillon was welcomed to Gwynedd-Mercy College's Board of Trustees along with two other new members, Sister Virginia Hasson, RSM, PhD, and Linda Ann Galante, Esq., both from Philadelphia, Pa.

In U.S.News & World Report's 2011 edition of "Best Colleges," Gwynedd-Mercy College ranked in the first tier of its category, which is largely attributed to its high graduation and retention rates. The college prepares students to become top professionals in the fields of allied health professions, arts and sciences, business, education and nursing.
