Horsham Student Awarded Nursing Scholarship

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA (11/05/2009)(readMedia)-- Cassandra Lloyd, of Horsham, Pa., was awarded the Sister Fenton Joseph Scholarship from Gwynedd-Mercy College during a ceremony on Oct. 26. Lloyd, who earned her Associate of Science in Nursing in 2008, is currently a senior in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at the college.

The Sister Fenton Joseph Scholarship is a full tuition scholarship that is awarded to a graduate of the college's associate degree nursing program who not only excels academically, but also has a positive impact on the community. Lloyd is a member of the Sigma Phi Sigma Mercy Honor Society, and an active participant in the Toys for Tots program, the March of Dimes, and food collection for the disadvantaged.

Based on a 2009 national report from the American Enterprise Institute, Gwynedd-Mercy College ranked fourth in the nation in its category for high graduation rates. The college prepares students to become top professionals in the fields of allied health professions, arts and sciences, business, education and nursing. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1948, the college is a coeducational institution offering more than 40 associate, bachelor's and master's degree programs on a full and part-time basis.
