Jason Morini Hired As Brockport Swimming and Diving Head Coach

BROCKPORT, NY (07/11/2012)(readMedia)-- The College at Brockport Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Jason Morini as the head coach of the Brockport Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Team and the head Aquatics Director. Morini comes to Brockport after eight successful seasons at Misericordia University.

"I could not be more excited to be the Head Coach for Brockport Swimming and Diving" stated Morini. "I am very impressed with the vision of the athletic department and the facilities. I've never had the opportunity to train a team with a 50-meter pool and the strength and conditioning facilities that Brockport offers. It's a great to be back home in New York where I started my swimming and coaching career."

Over the last two seasons, Morini led the Cougars to 32 school records. Misericordia posted a winning record in each of Morini's last four seasons. In his eight seasons as head coach, Misericordia compiled an overall record of 105-63. During the 2011-2012 campaign, Morini led the men's team to a second place finish and the women's team to a third place finish at the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC).

The two-time MAC Coach of the Year at Misericordia led six swimmers to NCAA "B Cuts" and holds seven MAC Championship meet records.

Prior to Morini's tenure at Misericordia, he rejuvenated the swimming and diving program at Canisius College, becoming the school's first full-time head coach. Morini restored the men's program at Canisius after a six year hiatus.

Morini got his start as an assistant coach at Ithaca College for the 2000-2001 season and moved on to become a graduate assistant at Alfred University for two seasons before taking over at Canisius. Morini was on the coaching staff for the first ever conference championships at Ithaca, Alfred, and Misercordia.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Morini also worked alongside the late U.S. Olympic coach and Stanford University head coach Richard Quick at the Richard Quick National Swim Camp for several years.

Morini was a four-year letterwinner at Ithaca where he served as a team captain during his senior year and received a bachelor's degree in Anthropology. Morini earned his master's degree from Alfred in professional studies in community service administration.
