Just McCarthy Named to All-American Team

BROCKPORT, NY (05/24/2012)(readMedia)-- Sophomore Justin McCarthy (Mohegan Lake, NY/Lakeland)of The College at Brockport Baseball team has been named a Third-Team All-American announced by d3baseball.com.

McCarthy, Brockport's primary closer on the year, is the first Golden Eagle to be named All-American since pitcher Ben Kimball in 2004. The sophomore tied for second in the nation with 10 saves on the season. McCarthy posted a team-best 1.20 ERA and finished with a 2-2 record on the mound. McCarthy also held opponents to a .173 batting average in 30 innings pitched while appearing in a team-high 18 games.

McCarthy is just one of three players from the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) to earn All-American honors. The right-handed hurler has also been named to the First-Team All- New York Region announced by the ABCA. McCarthy has also been named to the First-Team All-SUNYAC and First-Team All-Region by d3baseball.com earlier this year.
