Kyheem Green Named Brockport Athlete of the Week

The senior led the Golden Eagles to a first-round home playoff game

BROCKPORT, NY (02/21/2012)(readMedia)-- Senior Kyheem Green (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) has been named The College at Brockport Male Athlete of the Week following a 2-1 week for the men's basketball team. Green and the Golden Eagles earned a first-round home playoff game following their victory over Potsdam on Saturday.

Against Cortland State on Tuesday, Green scored a team-high 15 points and hit all five free throw attempts. Green also grabbed a team-high six rebounds as the Golden Eagles fell to the second-place Red Dragons. Against Plattsburgh on Friday night, Green led the team in scoring again with 12 points and grabbed a team-high six boards. The senior shot 5-9 from the floor and picked up four steals. Brockport defeated the Cardinals 87-67.

Green finished up the week with a 15 point, four rebound game against Potsdam on Senior Day. The Golden Eagles defeated the Bears 94-49 to clinch the fourth seed in the State University of New York Athletic Conference with an 11-7 overall record. Brockport will host Buffalo State at 7:00 pm on Tuesday night in the first round of the conference playoffs.

Over the last seven games, in which the Golden Eagles went 6-1 to finish out the season and clinch home-court advantage in the first round, Green led Brockport in scoring with a 17.3 average and had a team-leading 6.7 rebounds. Green also led the team with 12 blocks, 13 steals, 44 field goals and 33 free throws. Green finished the seven game stretch with a .537 field goal percentage and an .868 free throw percentage, both team-highs. The forward ranks in the top ten in the SUNYAC in points, rebounds, field goal percentage, steals, and blocks.
