Marian University Student Chapter of Human Resource Organization Honored
Society for Human Resource Management Gives Merit Award
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (06/13/2011)(readMedia)-- Marian University's student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) recently received the 2010-11 Merit Award for outstanding programs, activities, and levels of participation during the academic year. Kathy Marra, assistant professor of human resources, and three representatives from the student chapter will travel to Las Vegas on June 23-29 for the national SHRM conference. Lori Braun, a management major in Marian's Adult Programs from Bargersville Indiana, and two traditional undergraduate students in the Clark H. Byrum School of Business: Thomas Cruz, a business major from Indianapolis, and Aimee Flaherty, a business major from Brookville, Indiana, will accompany Marra.
In the offical news release about the awards, Chuck Salvetti, SHRM's student and young professionals program manager, noted that the student chapters worked extremely hard this year. "Their efforts to provide networking and educational programming to human resources students and to increase their exposure to the field of HR are evidence of their desire to achieve."
