Melanie Melewski Named Brockport Athlete of the Week
Swimmer wins four events at Potsdam meet
BROCKPORT, NY (11/14/2011)(readMedia)-- Freshman Melanie Melewski scored a victory in all four events she competed in at The College of Brockport Women's Swimming and Diving meet against Potsdam on Saturday. Her four wins has earned her Brockport Female Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career.
Melewski opened up the meet by teaming up with fellow swimmers Erin Luke, Paige Whitney, and Sarah Eisenmenger to win the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:19.12. Melewski later won the 100-yard breaststroke at a time of 1:11.81. Her other individual victory came in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:36.26.
Melewski teamed up with Luke and Whitney one more time along with Amy Jessmer to capture the final event of the day, the 400-yard freestyle relay. The four finished with a time of 3:54.72. Melewski had a hand in 40 points on the day as the Golden Eagles defeated Potsdam 178-109.
