Nicole Jones Headed to NCAA Championships
BROCKPORT, NY (05/23/2012)(readMedia)-- Junior Nicole Jones (West Charlton, NY/Galway) of The College at Brockport Track and Field team is headed to the 2012 NCAA Championships in Claremont, California in the shot put event. The championships are hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges from May 24-26. The women's shot put will take place on Friday beginning at 1:00 pm, PST (4:00 pm, EST).
Jones enters the championships ranked 15th of all Division III athletes in the shot put. The junior put herself into the championships with a school-record distance of 13.38 meters (43' 10.75") at the 6th Annual Gator Invitational hosted by Allegheny on May 11. The top distance in Division III this season is currently 14.94 meters (49' 0.25"). At the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships last week, Jones finished second with a distance of 13.13 meters (43' 1").
