GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA (05/19/2010)(readMedia)-- Kathryn Herens, of Northeast Philadelphia, was honored with the Outstanding Undergraduate Award, given by Gwynedd-Mercy College's Alumni Association during Honors Convocation.

The Alumni Association Outstanding Undergraduate Award is presented to a distinguished undergraduate student for a demonstrated and articulated commitment to Gwynedd-Mercy College and to academic achievement.

Herens received this award because of her selfless dedication to helping others, her motivation in her academics and her involvement in the campus community. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing on May 15, after completing an associate degree in 2008.

Based on a 2009 national report from the American Enterprise Institute, Gwynedd-Mercy College ranked fourth in its category for high graduation rates. The college prepares students to become top professionals in the fields of allied health professions, arts and sciences, business, education and nursing. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1948, Gwynedd-Mercy College is a coeducational institution offering more than 40 associate, bachelor's and master's degree programs on a full- and part-time basis.
