Northwestern College Senior, Katie DeWitt, named State Farm WBCA/NCAA Division III All-American

ST.PAUL, MN (03/23/2011)(readMedia)-- Just days after being named to the D3Hoops.com All-West Region Third Team, Northwestern College women's basketball player Katie DeWitt, of Lino Lakes, was awarded with State Farm Coaches' NCAA Division III All-America Honorable Mention accolades. DeWitt was one of 30 women's basketball players named to the honorable mention list and one of 40 All-Americans overall.
DeWitt averaged 22.5 points per game in 2010-11, her senior season, which was good enough for fourth place amongst all NCAA Division III players. The third-year Northwestern player also averaged 8.3 rebounds per contest while making 47.6 percent of her attempts from the floor, all of which are marks that lead the team. DeWitt also finished the season with 38 three-point field goals and 59 assists. She is fourth all-time in Northwestern's history with 1,637 career points.
As a team, the Eagles finished 16-11 overall and 11-3 in UMAC action, earning second place in the final conference standings. Northwestern, who was under the leadership of a new head coach in Aaron Kahl in 2010-11, lost to UMAC regular season champion University of Minnesota, Morris in the conference tournament championship.
