Northwestern College Students Recognize the Importance of Giving Back to the Community

More Than 500 Students Volunteer Throughout the Twin Cities in Conjunction with Ktis Radio "60 Days of Service" Celebration

ST.PAUL, MN (08/22/2009)(readMedia)-- Aware of struggling families and organizations in the Twin Cities, Northwestern College students take action and give back to the community on Monday, August 24 with an entire day dedicated to volunteer service projects spanning the Minneapolis and St. Paul metro area. The service projects parallel with KTIS radio "60 Days of Service;" a 60-year anniversary celebration during the months of August and September which focuses on volunteerism and radio founder, Rev. Billy Graham.

NOTES:

Large and small groups of people are being encouraged by KTIS to volunteer during its "60 Days of Service" initiative, from August 5 to October 3, especially in key areas of emphasis as identified by both cities' mayoral offices: hunger, schools, homelessness/ displacement, and environment/beautification. Students will be painting houses and buildings, gardening, landscaping, organizing, moving and packing meals.

As part of its "Living Out the Legacy" anniversary, KTIS has created a web site (www.icanhelptwincities.com) that serves as the central hub linking volunteer opportunities to those identified by Twin Cities service organizations.
