WINCHESTER, VA (10/18/2013)(readMedia)-- The Winchester Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting The Spookcessible event at the Children's Dream and Familyland Playground areas in Jim Barnett Park on October 22, 2013 from 10-11am. In case of inclement weather the event will be moved to the gymnasium at the War Memorial Building.
The event is free and open to children with special needs. Each child will search for 10 ghosts throughout the playground area and turn them in for their Halloween goodie bag. Each ghost has a metal washer attached to the back and any child that may have difficulty bending down to gather their ghosts may use a special "magic wand" equipped with a heavy duty magnet to aid them in the collecting. Goodie bag items were donated by Walmart of Winchester. Once children have found their allotment of ghosts, they then proceed to the "Pumpkin Patch" where eventgoers collect one pumpkin gourd to take with them. Pumpkin gourds were donated by Joe Lizer at Virginia Farm Market. In addition to ghost hunting and pumpkin gourd fun, Spookcessible participants will have the opportunity to play several games and win small prizes.
