Join AHRC New York City at the Grand Opening of ArTech,

A Community Art Center for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) and the Bronx Community, that Merges

Fine Arts and Innovative Technology

(New York, NY, October 31, 2016) You are invited to join AHRC New York City on Thursday, November 3rd, 2016 from 11:30AM – 12:30PM at the AHRC New York City Howie Stone Center for the grand opening of ArTech. This new community art center, merging fine art and innovative state of the art digital technologies will offer access to artistic self-expression to people who have intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities and traumatic brain injuries and have interests in the arts. Local artists from the Bronx without disabilities, for example, students from Lehman High School, who wish to explore, express and share their creativity will be invited to attend classes, use the space and perhaps mentor artists with disabilities.

This center was funded through a grant from New York State made possible through the leadership of Senator Jeffrey Klein who will be in attendance at the grand opening.

AHRC New York City staff will offer interviews and tours of the center which includes a traditional photography and art studio; and will demonstrate some of the innovative technology to be utilized including: the Google Tilt Brush that allows users to paint in 3D space with virtual reality; Artistic Realization Technologies (A.R.T.) a method that uses human trackers who act as a paintbrush; eye gaze software; as well as a full digital arts suite with a variety of assistive technology capacities. The art of people served by AHRC New York City will be on display and AHRC artists will be on site to answer questions about their creative endeavors and assist in demonstrations.
